The 22nd IEEE International Workshop on Signal Processing Advances in Wireless Communications (SPAWC), will be held in Lucca, Tuscany, Italy, on September 27-30, 2021. A flagship workshop of the IEEE SP Society SPCOM technical committee, SPAWC 2021 will combine cutting edge research in the fields of signal processing, communication theory, information theory, statistical learning, wireless networking and more.
SPAWC 2021 invites original contributions in the following (but not limited to) areas:
All invited and regular papers, with up to 5 pages of technical content (including references), will be published through IEEE Xplore.
Deadline extended until April 26, 2021.
At this time, SPAWC 2021 will be a hybrid conference, with in-person taking place in Lucca, Italy on September 27-30, 2021, and virtual participation options as well. The hybrid format will allow authors to present their papers from the location of their choosing if traveling is not feasible.
More information will be provided to presenters in due course.
The technical program will follow the successful style of SPAWC, with morning and afternoon keynote talks, and poster sessions in between. A Call-for-Special-Sessions on hot topics in the society will be published. In addition to the keynotes, the program will feature several SPAWC Talks given by leaders in both academia and industry. While each keynote will provide an introduction and overview of a topic, in a style that suits all the attendees, the SPAWC talks disseminate the latest developments in the same topic area as the keynotes.
Prospective organizers of Special Sessions should submit proposals with the following information:
Proposals should be sent to the Special Session Chairs, Martina Cardone (email@example.com) and Mari Kobayashi (firstname.lastname@example.org).
Proposals will be evaluated based on the timeliness of the topic and on the qualifications of the organizers and of the authors of the contributed papers as well. Upon acceptance of the proposal, the contributed papers must be submitted in the same format as regular papers before of the deadline: April 11, 2021.
The papers in each accepted Special Session will undergo a review process, similar to the other regular papers.
Tutorials will be held on September 27, 2021. Brief tutorial proposals should include title, outline, contact information, biography and selected publications for the presenter(s), and a description of the tutorial and material to be distributed to participants. Proposals should be sent to the Tutorial Chair, Erik G. Larsson (email@example.com).
Proposal deadline: March 28, 2021
The award committee, composed by the General Chair, Technical Program Co-chairs and Special Session Co-chairs, selects 3 regular papers and 3 special-session papers for the Student Paper Contest. One student per selected paper is invited to present the paper live on Zoom and to answer questions from the award committee.
The final selection of 2 winners will be made by the award committee after the completion of the live presentations. Papers will be judged 25% on the technical content of the paper, 25% on the importance of the work, 25% on the student’s live presentation, and 25% on the student’s ability to answer questions from the judges. A plaque and prize will be awarded to the winners.
To qualify for the Student Paper Contest, the first author on the paper must be a full-time undergraduate or graduate student at the time of submission of the paper.
SPAWC 2021 will include a data competition to develop algorithms for a problem related to signal processing and communication theory. A plaque and prize of 300 EURO will be awarded to the winning team during the banquet.
