Student Paper Contest Guidelines

The committee, composed by the General Chair, Technical Program Co-chairs and Special Session Co-chairs, will select approximately 10 papers for the Student Paper Contest. The first authors of the 10 selected papers will receive certificates indicating that their paper was selected for the contest. Student finalists will be required to confirm their attendance (to the General Chair) to the Monday afternoon Student Paper Contest. A judging committee will review all qualifying papers.

Final selection of 3 winners will be made after the completion of the contest. Papers will be judged 25% on the technical content of the paper, 25% on the importance of the work, 25% on the student’s presentation, and 25% on the student’s ability to answer questions from the judges. A plaque and prize will be awarded to the winners during the banquet.

Data Competition

A competition will be held during the conference to develop algorithms for a problem related to signal processing and communication theory. A plaque and prize will be awarded to the winning team during the banquet.

To compete, teams will have to download the dataset (which will be released a month before the deadline for paper submissions) and develop solutions to be submitted to Timothy O’Shea, the Data Competition Chair, before 6:00 pm of Monday, September 27, 2021. A committee will run the received algorithms on a new test data set. The winning team will be determined by evaluating and comparing results. Competing teams should also prepare a poster to describe their algorithms and experiments during the Tuesday afternoon Data Competition.
